On January 26th the Chilliwack Tulip Festival came together with a long list of partners, volunteers, family, and friends to create a massive installation of 10,000 tulips in the shape of a heart inside the Grand Court of Metropolis at Metrotown. The goal was to raise awareness, and funds for Variety – The Children's Charity of BC.One of the core values of the Chilliwack Tulip and Sunflower Festivals is to create a place that is inclusive to all. Among the highest of priorities for us is helping those with disabilities, and making our festivals more accessible to those with disabilities. This is one of the reasons we have chosen Variety – the Children's Charity to be our cause.Together we were able to reach thousands of people with that message and raise thousands of dollars to support that cause. We would not have been able to do that without the long list of sponsors, volunteers, partners, friends, and family who helped us make this a reality.Chilliwack Tulip Festival and Onos Greenhouses would like to express our deepest gratitude to all who were apart of this, and look forward to working with you all again in the future!Special thanks to: Variety – The Children's Charity of BCSerena PRTillyTulpHaakman Flowerbulbs B.V.Daily Hive Vancouver Blrrd Creativ Connect MediaMetropolis at MetrowtownChilliwack Sunflower FestivalOnos Family MembersThank you to the following media outlets and influencers for your considerations: Blrrd CreativMiss604Jen Chan Media Jacqueline ChuiThe Food GaysBritish Columbia MomPopulistVancouver Is AwesomeDistrict Local | VancouverCandy ComplexGlobal BCBurnaby NOWDaily HiveMy Van CityNarcity Canada CTV News | CTV VancouverVancoolverVanMagThe Georgia StraightBCLivingWil YuarataMark Leslie RubioLife of KieraCoco Miko#ihearttulips #varietybc #chilliwacktulipfestival

Spring doesn’t officially begin until March 19. But it’s arriving early this year at Metropolis at Metrotown — with the 2nd annual I Heart Tulips event, the largest one day indoor tulip display in Canada.

On Saturday, March 7, an awe-inspiring installation of 14,000 live tulips will be unveiled in Metropolis at Metrotown’s Grand Court. Arranged in multiple heart shapes, the multi-coloured tulips will be on display for one day only.

Visitors to Burnaby’s famous shopping destination will have the opportunity to view the full display of tulips from all three levels of the mall, from 10am to 11am. For the rest of the day, the tulips will be available for picking, at a cost of eight stems for $5 or 20 stems for $10. Proceeds will go to Variety – the Children’s Charity, which has been providing direct help to B.C. children with special needs for more than 50 years.

This marks the 2nd edition of I Heart Tulips. It debuted in January of last year and was a great success. The event was created by Kate Onos-Gilbert and Davy Onos from Onos Greenhouses Ltd. and founders of Tulips of the Valley – the company behind the enormously popular Chilliwack Tulip Festival (established 2006) and the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival (established 2018), which take place in the Fraser Valley each year.

I Heart Tulips will also feature various photo opportunities and pose-worthy selfie locations, including life-sized photo frames, a replica mini flower stand, and an adorable tulip-filled baby carriage. Keepsake Polaroids will be available for an additional donation, with all proceeds going to Variety – the Children’s Charity.

“I was overwhelmed by the success of the first I Heart Tulips event in 2019,” says Onos-Gilbert. “I look forward to delighting visitors of Metropolis at Metrotown once again this year. And, of course, I’m honoured that Variety will again benefit from the proceeds of the event — they’re a cause that has long been close to my heart.”
